Participants in Central San Academy learn about almost everything we do, including how we use engineering, chemistry and technology to turn waste into worth, by cleaning our community’s water and returning it to our customers as recycled water. The curriculum is interactive and informative and includes a tour of our treatment plant, laboratory, recycled water fill station, and household hazardous waste collection facility.
This FREE course is a rare glimpse into how used water gains new life. We recently completed a successful first session - winning the California Special Districts Association 2016 Exceptional Public Outreach and Advocacy Award for our efforts - and we are working to make our next one even better. Join us next spring to find out more about the other side of water!
What kind of commitment would this entail?
Classes are about 2.5 hours each, held one evening a week for six weeks from April 4 to May 9, 2017, at 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. The April 25 class is a daytime facilities tour from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m.
Where is it?
Classes are held in our Multi Purpose Room at our headquarters at 5019 Imhoff Place, Martinez.
Why should you join us?
If you take an interest in the activities of your local government agencies, have considered employment in the wastewater industry, are curious to meet active members of your community, or just want to expand your general knowledge, we welcome you to our world. Throughout the program, you will have a chance to provide direct feedback and ideas on how we as an organization can continuously improve and engage in discussions with our staff and your peers. What we do directly benefits and impacts you, and your input is important! Our goal is for you to have a better understanding of your government and the core services we provide.
