Recycled Water

CCCSD has been involved in water recycling since the early 1970s. We currently provide recycled water to customers located adjacent to our treatment plant and in Pleasant Hill.

CCCSD provides landscape irrigation water that meets all the requirements of the State Department of Health Services and the California Regional Water Quality Control Board for unrestricted landscape irrigation. Approved uses include irrigation at schools, parks, playgrounds, median strips and playing fields, as well as dust control and industrial uses.

Recycling water means less water is diverted from the Delta environment. Recycled water is a valuable resource, especially during drought years when water for landscape irrigation is less available because of water rationing.

CCCSD will continue to examine other projects to expand the customer base for landscape irrigation and industrial recycled water use. We have identified potential projects to extend the landscape irrigation system into North Concord, Martinez, and Walnut Creek. Additionally, CCCSD is exploring options to provide industrial recycled water to the local petroleum refineries for cooling water purposes.
