Pollution Prevention for Residents

How Residential Pollution Occurs

It's easy to point a finger at business and industry for environmental pollution, but after extensive research, CCCSD has found that residential water pollution occurs at an astounding rate. You see, when household chemicals are poured or rinsed down sinks, tubs, and toilets, these toxics flow through our treatment plant, possibly upsetting the treatment process and harming the delicate marine life in Suisun Bay.

What You Need to Know About Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

  • Read the label carefully to understand the product contents and warnings.
  • Buy only the amount of product you need.
  • Read safety precautions first. Follow directions for use.
  • Use the prescribed amount. More is not always better.
  • Never mix chemicals.
