Employee Benefits Overview

At Central San, we believe that you, our employees, are our most important asset. Helping you and your families achieve and maintain good health— physical, emotional and financial—is the reason Central San offers you this benefits program. We are providing you with this overview to help you understand the benefits that are available to you and how to best use them. Please review it carefully and make sure to ask about any important issues that are not addressed here. A list of plan contacts is provided at the back of this summary. While we’ve made every effort to make sure that this guide is comprehensive, it cannot provide a complete description of all benefit provisions. For more detailed information, please refer to your plan benefit booklets or summary plan descriptions (SPDs). The plan benefit booklets determine how all benefits are paid.

Summer Student and Internship Programs

Central San is proud to offer both an intern and summer student program wherein students gain experience working in the field of their choice. Our intern and summer student positions offer an opportunity to apply knowledge learned in the classroom to hands-on experience.  Students will gain knowledge of Central San, the wastewater industry, and careers, while gaining valuable work experiences and providing a meaningful service to the community.

Externship Program – SIGN UP NOW for our 2024 session – held the week of August 5!
Every year, we host a free, virtual/in-person program for students and recent grads to learn about careers at Central San and in wastewater!

At Central San, we take pride in our work. To share careers in wastewater with students and recent graduates, we host an annual Externship Program for students and recent graduates from schools all over the country. Our cohort-style learning experience is designed as an insider look at multiple career paths in local government and the water/wastewater industry and an opportunity to make connections, not only with established staff at Central San but also with fellow externs.
